Together We Grow!

The Hurricane Valley School and Community Garden Begins…

The Hurricane Valley School and Community Garden began on fallow piece of  ground located at 345 South 920 West in Hurricane, Utah. The property is part of Cottonwood Creek Farms, owned and operated by Dee and Lisa Atkin of Hurricane.  The Atkins’ donated the use of this land for the Community Garden project and are very excited about supporting locally grown organic food.  They partnered with Hurricane High School Agricultural Science classes lead by Department Director, Dustin Dayley and local residents Aaron and Avis Diamond to get the garden going. All have committed to donating time, expertise and other resources to help make the Community Garden successful. Hurricane City and many other community agencies, businesses and private citizens also supported the garden project with donations of time, resources and materials. We truly call this a “community” garden, for it would not have been built without the support of all the many facets and faces of this great community. There are 55 garden beds currently in the garden. 16 are demonstration beds that are planted and cared for by the Hurricane High “Student Gardeners” and “Garden Partners”. The remaining beds are “rented” each season to “Community Gardeners” who till, plant, weed, care for and grow amazing, delicious, organic food right in their own garden bed! Come join us! You are always welcome! And we will see you in the garden!!
